For patients who have reached the end of Phase I treatment:
We have now reached the completion of Phase I of your child's two phase
orthodontic treatment. A successful Phase I treatment remedies many of the jaw
(skeletal) problems and bad bites early to promote more normal growth and
development. Most importantly, it provides early improvement in appearance which
can affect a child's psychological development and self-esteem and we find that
kids smile more often after a Phase I treatment. The extremely important final
dental and bite refinements are most effectively achieved in the later, second
phase of treatment. The second phase of treatment will be recommended when most of
the permanent teeth have erupted.
- CONGRATULATIONS!!! You are entering the rest phase of your treatment.
At this time we will wait and watch until the majority of your permanent teeth
come in.
- We normally see Phase I patients every 2-6 months to check and adjust retainers
and judge the timing for starting Phase II.
